My last visit to the doctor revealed that my vitamin D level was extremely low. The doctor also told me that she had seen a woman the day before whose D level was also low & that this woman complained of burning mouth also. I have been taking 2000 IU''s of Vitamin D for the last 2 weeks & my symptoms seem to have eased a bit. Not gone entirely but much, much better than they have been. |

I have had this condition for 13 yrs. I struggle with it every day. A product called Breneton is now saying they can cure BMS. Has anyone tried it? I have been on so many different meds I''ve lost count. I have not been able to find a doctor who has even heard about BMS so they just throw pills at me. Anti-depressants dry my mouth out. Pain meds do nothing. |

I have been diagnosed with BMS now for 6 months. I have tried everything . I am taking 6 capsules a day of ALpha Lipotic Acid, Gabbapentin drugs. Nothing really works. Some days it is so bad, and others I can tolerate it. I have had 6 weeks of B12 injections. That didn''t help at all. I have not tried vitamin D yet, though i am willing to try anything. |

my doctors, (ent specialist, dentist, primary physcian) are frustrated (ha,ha) and cannot help me. I do not have a vitamin deficiency; that''s been checked. I''ve had this for 2 1/2 years and have tried all the meds suggested to include mouthwashes, rinses, new toothpaste, new brush and meds. (neurontin), and I even was told to rinse with milk of magnesia 3-4 times a day (did not work). I was told that accupuncture has been helpful but with less than a 50% success rate. Never in my wildest dreams did I realize this ever existed until I woke up one morning and tried to think back of what I ate that could have caused such burning that I experienced. It has only intensified and it is very saddening and tiring since now it runs all nite. It''s tough to keep spirits up so thank you for knowing there are many out there.! |

I was just diagnosed with BMS last week. It all started back in February when I got really sick and was prescribed a very strong antibiotic. I have taken Diflucan, Prilosec and even probiotics in hopes it would help take this pain away. Nothing helps. I was referred to ENT but after reading post on line I don''t see how they will help. I have been to the Dr''s so many times, seeing three different Dr''s and my Dentist. They all say my mouth looks normal and they are not sure what to do? Anxiety has gotten the best of me, which in turn I believe makes this worse! I am will to try acupuncture!! I wish I had an easy answer for us all, nothing anyone should have to live with. Especially when the Dr''s don''t know anything about it. |

I have suffered on and off with burning mouth for over 10 years. The only thing that helps me is going to the chiropractor. After a few visits the Burning goes away. Sometimes it stays away for 6 or more months. I figure it must be nerve related because nothing else seems to help. I also have hpyothyroidism and an postmenopausal. Has anyone else found some relief with spine and neck adjustments. |

I have had burning mouth syndrome since early Dec./2010. My Dr. a pain specialist never heard of it so at first he didn''t give me the correct meds. I am now on neurontin (gabapentin), Lyrica and alpha Lipoic acid besides vitamin B. I haven''t heard of the use of vitamin D and I have been researching this for many months. I live in 24 hrs. of pain. The higher dose of gabapentin with Lyrica and alpha Lipoic acid seem to be start working; but I am so drugged since they doubled Lyrica all I can do is sleep the 1st part of the day, really drugs me, but my Dr. wanted me to try this and it does eliminate the pain, which is caused by severe degen. disc disease in my neck causing my nerves to my throat and mouth to be pinched. I have 1 mm stenosis of the cervical spine, pinching the spinal cord. I have been told it may not go away. I am interested in anything else that may help. If anyone has info. for me please advise; the pain never goes away. Nanette from Seattle |

My torrid journey with BMS began 6 months ago. I have tried most prescribed drugs by both my doctor and a specialist. I am currently trying acupuncture for relief. Everyday is different, some days I think "omg it''s gone" and then it returns either that same evening or the next day. My frustration is causing a depression. People don''t understand. They ask stupid questions like "why can you eat that and not that?" as if they are testing me, not believing me. I look fine and carry on most days, but the chronic pain is always there and because they don''t see it they make judgement''s. I have lost 25lbs. due to what I can and cannot eat but I believe I am eating the healthiest I have ever eaten. Just at a price my well being can''t afford. I have difficulties with bread, potatoes, red meat, pork and acidic foods. Is anyone else out there experiencing the same? I feel good that I have shared with folks you will understand. |

I have had BMS for about 7 years, sometimes the pain gets so intense I pray about it. I also chew a lot of sugarless bubble gum, it seens to help, but once I stop the pain is back. Lorazapam helped at first, but It doesn''t seem to do much now. I am going to try acupunture. |

I''ve had burning mouth for about 1 1/2 years! It''s horrible. I''ve tried vitamin d, nothing, I''m now on neurontin with no results. Also tries previcid, thinking maybe it was acid reflux. nothing. I''m trying an allergist next. |
