What is Burning Tongue?

Also called: oral galvanism, stomatodynia, glossodynia, stomatopyrosis, glossopyrosis

Burning Tongue, better known as Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS). The pain caused by glossodynia or Burning tongue may be severe and can last for many days. This disease occurs mostly in middle age people. The factors precipitating this condition are "Yeast infections, hormonal imbalance during menopause, bad oral habits, medications, acid reflux, nerve damage, endocrine disorders, irritating dentures and deficiency of vitamin B12". The pain from burning mouth syndrome may affect your tongue, gums, lips, inside of your cheeks, roof of your mouth, or widespread areas of your whole mouth. The pain can be severe, as if you scalded your mouth.

Burning Tongue is also known as Glossodynia, Glossopyrosis, Oral galvanism, Stomatodynia and Stomatopyrosis.
